Classified Staff Child Care Grant
The Classified Staff Child Care Grant was developed in 2003 for the benefit of permanent employees at UW-Madison. The high cost of quality early child care and education can make it difficult for employees to cover expenses, especially when families face unexpected events that may undermine their ability to cover their child care costs while maintaining their employment.
To acknowledging the valuable contributions of our classified work force, to support consistency and quality in care for children, and to support families who may be experiencing changes in the family structure or abilities, this grant provides a one-time award to assist families at a time of increased need. This program benefits the child, the employee and the employer.
The program is administered by the Office of Child Care and Family Resources. Grants are provided annually with privately raised funds based on fund availability.
If awarded, payment is made directly to the regulated provider.
Application Process
Applications for grants may be forwarded throughout the year as needs occur. The applicant should address any special circumstances that affect family needs or issues in their written statement for the grant committee to consider. Grants are encouraged when families experience unexpected or emergency situations wherein a small grant could ensure child care provision.
Recipients must submit a copy of their prior year income tax showing adjusted gross income and fully complete the application.
Please complete the application and send it along with attachments to: Office of Child Care & Family Resources, Attn: Jordan Hanson, 611 Eagle Heights, Rm. 148, Madison, WI 53705.
